How many times do I tell myself that I should not be buying so many clothings. It is not like I am a shopping freak or something, but to my own self defined conservative mindset I end up crossing the limit.
It's like veiling the face of the woman to prevent the vicious seductive trap of an eye contact, which gives an impetus for the lust to sprout.
What I mean is unless you enter the shop there is no temptation, there is no attraction and you are at peace with yourself. But the moment you enter the showroom, you are trapped, trapped by the impressive ambience, trapped by the visual merchandising, trapped by the appealing posters and trapped by the branding or brainwashing done everywhere. And again there are those plastic cards in your pocket which supports you being voluntarily trapped.
Now a nice cloth catching your eye is the first step. Second step is trying it out~ Boy those trial rooms I tell you, don't know where they get those mirrors from, guess they customize to modify the aspect ratio of the image to make you look beautiful; so beautiful that you dont remember when was the last time you looked so attractive! and those lightings, they make the environment so perfect that you will be proud of yourself for having such a good taste to select the classy, different, mod, chic, suave (or any piece of adjective that justifies your taste) piece of cloth that makes you look so adorable.
Third and final stage of the trap is coming out of the trial room brimming with happiness and asking your friend or who ever accompanied you, how the dress fits ?
Boy you are done in there now..the friend is so friendly that the feedback is most of the times in affirmative.
All the stages of the trap are now perfectly executed and you step out of the shop happily carrying the shiny polythene, being proud of your ability to spot nice things and being proud of your financial ability to pick what you want in a branded shop in the city's main shopping street. You almost end up considering it an achievement and labeling yourself successful...almost successful.
Then comes the time when you wear it for the first time and get out of your place, in the back of your mind you always want your friends to ask if this is a new one and how nice it feels to hear some compliments from them. Generally responding in total surprise as if you never expected that compliment, as if you never saw it coming. Well you deserve that don't you, for all the effort and money you put in to get it!
Once you get back to your place and put your dress for wash, that's it, that is the end of the story. Routinely the dress finds its place in the wardrobe and I wonder where all the limelight went? where did all the charm go? where did all the glam go? and now is the time when practicality finally sets in , was it really worth its price????
Well .. till you go incidently, accidently or maybe deliberately shopping again, the conlusion will be "The Fascination of the new shirt lasts till you wear it for the first time"
